About Department

Physics department of Ramnarain Ruia AutonomousCollege came into existence in 1937 in the year of college establishment. Department has acheived  several milestones and produced a galaxy of eminent personalities like Dr. Kasturi Rangan, Ex-ISRO Chief and planning commission , Dr. Ajit Kembhavi Director , IUCAA , Dr. S. B. Patel , Ex. Head and professor at CBS Centre, Dr. Vaibhav Prabhudesai, Scientist at TIFR and many more. In the recent times, We started research activity with the Ph.D. centre with present sanctioned capacity of 6 Ph.D. students. Currently the Department has 2 research guides. Department has received grants from the funding agencies like DBT, DST, UGC and CSIR.
