Activities of the Department

The department continuously strives for bringing in innovation and creativity in teaching learning patterns for the students. World Tourism Day is celebrated every year which is the flagship event of the department and has gained tremendous student response. The formal event attracts roughly 300+ students each year for a half day Seminar which reflects the theme of the tourism day. If the World Tourism Day seminar is a formal event, Yatra La Vista is one such event which brings in colors and enthusiasm in the otherwise academic life. YLV, as we call it is one of the most popular events amongst the students. The event is by the students and for the students. An inter-collegiate event organized by the department every year under the “Samanvay” banner has students participating in various fun filled activities, quiz, treasure hunt and lot more in a days’ time. The main aim of the event is to make learning enjoyable, help students collaborate on different ideas and build up an event which would break the monotony of regular classes yet add to the student’s life skills.

Message from Head of Department

The Department of B.VOC Tourism and Travel Management rigorously follows ‘Outcome Based Education’ in its approach of imparting teachings. We ensure that students are abreast with the latest technologies through our regular teaching learning process and additional enrichment programs. Students are encouraged to join professionally run organizations or to explore entrepreneurial opportunities using their own innovative ideas and concepts. In keeping with the policy of excellence in education, we have also collaborated with Universite Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), which provides our students an opportunity to exchange views about industry and academics, develop multi-cultural sensitivities and gain global exposure.  I am pleased to share that our students are consistently excelling in their placement process in highly reputed tourism organisations:- Travel agencies, Tour operators, Destination Management companies, Aviation sector and even the State Tourism Boards. Currently the department is on 100% internship and 88% on placement record.    Along with academics, we pay close attention to the holistic development of our students and are committed to bring out the best in our students and enhance their life skills to create future young leaders. This has led to a few of our students venturing to set-up their own businesses during the course while a few have also taken up post graduate programs in Management Studies.  All this in a span of five years has been a herculean task, but with unhindered support from the University of Mumbai, College staff and industry support we have been able to drive the Skill Mission India with zeal and determination making this course as one of the most sought after courses in travel. It gives us great pleasure to have been listed under The 10 Best Travel and Tourism Institute in India 2019!I am positively hopeful that we continue to inspire, nurture and shape young minds with integrated efforts for them to Explore, Experience and Excel- living the motto of our College in true sense.
