  1. Green Chemistry : Microwave-Assisted Organic Reactions, Solvent Free Reactions and Water-based Reactions
  2. Medicinal Chemistry : Syntheses  of drugs & drug-intermediates, isolation and structure elucidation  of active principles from plant materials using modern instrumentation methods 
  3. Asymmetric Synthesis using chiral catalysts
  4. Biotechnology

  • Currently guiding  EIGHT  Ph.D.  students

 

RESEARCH  EXPERIENCE  AT  INTERNATIONAL  LEVEL      POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH :

  • Post-Doctoral Fellow, Dept. of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey, USA (2004) : - Worked on a research project on Green Chemistry involving water-based biphasic reactions and Microwave induced organic reactions.
  • Participated in the workshop on ‘Microscale Techniques in Chemistry’ organized by Merrimack College, Massachusetts, USA (1999) : -Received a special training for carrying out chemical tests/reactions using very small quantities of chemicals to minimize the pollution in the labs. and to reduce the overall expenditure in chemistry labs.
  • Represented India in the International Workshop on `Low-Cost Chemical Instrumentation’ organised by UNESCO at University of  Delhi during November 02-07, 1992 for the chemistry teachers from the SAARC countries.
  • Participated in the following short courses in USA, related to research activities :
    •  ‘Surfactants : Principles and Applications’ organized by Center for Surface Science & Engineering and Particle Engineering Research Center, University of Florida, Florida, USA, March 11, 2004.2.

  • Joint-Convener, Seventh Research Scholars’ Meet (1995) : Worked in organizing the Research Scholars’ Meet in the college in 1995, jointly with the Indian Chemical Society (Mumbai Branch), which provides an opportunity to the students registered for Ph.D. in Chemistry from Univ. of Mumbai to present their research work before the learned audience.
