The BMM course started once again in the year 2006-2007. This course provides
the students with various career options in the fields of Mass media Namely,
Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations etc. This course at the College is
also supported by up-to-date infrastructure facilities.
The Department conducted an entrance examination (for entry into the BMM course)
on Sunday, 11th June 2006. 197 students appeared for the same and the course
began with strength of 60 students.
The department functions clearly on the inputs of the visiting faculty and
thanks the visiting faculty for their contribution.
Ruia College offers instructions in BMM stream in English medium.

The examination system for T Y B M M is as follows
 | The T Y B A examination is conducted entirely by university at the end of every Semester in the third year for Theory as well as Project Work. |

delivered lectures on 16th Sept. 2006 on Gandhism and on 18th Sept. 2006 on
Working Class Movements.
d. Prof. Pushpa Bhave, a socisl worker and activist delivered lectures on 20th
Sept. 2006 on Feminism and on 21st Sept. 2006 on Black Consciousness.
e. Dr. Milind Malshe delivered lectures on 20th Sept. 2006 on Existentialism and
Post Modernism and on 21st Sept.2006 on Popular Culture.
f. Dr Uday Nirgudkar, COO, Godrej Lockyn, delivered a lecture on 25th Sept. 2006
on Communication Revolution and Impact on Society.
g. Dr. Neelam Gorhe, MLC, Maharashtra, COO, delivered lectures on 27th Sept.
2006 on Media and Women, Media and Sex and Media and Violence.
Activities Conducted:
• The department invited Birla Sunlife Insurance Company limited to make a
presentation on Project Training on 13th September 2006.
• The department invited Baatchit to make a presentation on ‘Interview
Techniques’ on 13th December 2006.


One of the co-ordinators of the course, Varsha Malwade has been appointed on
the ad-hoc Board of Studies for BMM from the year 2006-07.
Seminars etc. attended:
Varsha Malwade attended workshop for the BMM co-ordinators at Ghanshyamdas Saraf
College, Malad on 3rd August 2006.


The students made the department proud by winning a number of prizes at
various intercollegiate media festivals and by participating into various media
related activities and festivals.
a. Umang: First Year BMM students of the College had maximum participation at
the N. M. College intercollegiate festival called ‘Umang’. Anushi Chaturvedi and
Samruddhi Karkare won third position at Radio Jockeying. Gauri Kalelkar won the
‘Best Actress Award' at the One- act play competition.
b. Technovanza ’06: Parag Arsekar participated in the final round in Technical
Movie Making at this national technical festival.
c. Blizzard At Blitzkrieg: The Media Fest, ‘Blitzkrieg 06’ held at K. C.
College, witnessed maximum participation from Ruia propelling it in the first
five positions for nine out of eleven events. ‘A person is getting ready in
front of the mirror and…’ was the feat for Ridhesh Sejpal, Niti Govila, Anish
Dedhia and Aseem Latkar to conquer.
d. Enigma Scream: Neeti Govila, Niraj Jani and Ridhesh Sejpal won second
position in Short Film Making in this festival at R. A. Podar College. Drushti
Aggarwal, Neeti Govila, Niraj Jani and Ridhesh Sejpal won Second position in
Mobile Film Making in this festival.
e. Ad-Quiz: Hemant Yadav and Mohit Lala won 1st Prize at the quiz competition
held by Department of Commerce.
f. Programme on DD News: The BMM students participated in a programme called
‘Genext’ on 15th august 2006.
