With a view to a lasting relationship between the Alumni, the Alma Mater and
continued interaction with old friends and teachers, the then Principal B.Y. Oke
founded the Ruia College Alumni Association. In accordance with the constitution
of the RCAA, the new Managing Committee was constituted under the able
leadership of Mr. Lalit Chadha as the President. The College Management has
allotted a well-furnished office premises to the Association. The Office is
situated on the first floor of the Ramnarain Ruia College.
It will be open between 1030 and 1330 hrs on Saturdays.

The constitution of the RCAA has been finalized and the association is
continuing to widen its membership base. In an attempt to reach out to the
graduating students, the association has announced a special offer. The Managing
Committee meets every month.
To recognize and appreciate significant contributions to society in general and
their fields of expertise in particular, of our outstanding alumni, the Alumni
Association has instituted an annual award, ‘Jewel of Ruia'.
The recipients of the award for this year are:
1) Dr. Ajit Gangadhar Phadke who is a renowned urologist and has been
conferred the ‘Dhanvantari
–2006’ award and
2) Prof. (Dr) Doraiswami Ramkrishna who is a Distinguished Professor of
Chemical Engineering at Purdue University, USA, for over three decades.
The felicitation function in honour of the ‘Jewels Of Ruia – 2006’ was held
on 11th Dec 2006 in AVVR, G-12. The Chief Guest for the occasion was another
illustrious alumnus, Mr. Bharatkumar Raut, Editor, Maharashtra Times.
The Association has started a quarterly Newsletter and the first issue was
released on 11th Dec 2006.
As many as twenty members have responded so far, to the ‘Each One Adopt One’
scheme for adopting one student for education.
The Association is in the process of designing its website which will be
launched very soon. The Association intends to work in tandem with the College
Management and strengthen the hands of the Principal in all possible ways.
