bullet The department has started M.Sc. Programme in Bioanalytical Science in 2004-05.
bullet Well-equipped, three UG and two PG Laboratories.
bullet The department has a very long tradition of research.
bullet The Department houses sophisticated instruments such as GC, FT-IR, AAS, HPLC, HPTLC and Electo-analytical work station.
bullet Departmental library for PG, Research, DIAC.
bullet The department is very active in conducting Refresher Courses (4 in the last seven years).
bullet Faculty as a resource person to other Institutions and Universities.
bullet Various co-curricular activities under the banner of  Chemistry Association and Dr. R. A. Kulkarni R and D Foundation. The events include Inter- and Intra-Collegiate aptitude test, Poster and Model Competition, Seminar Presentations and Chemquiz Competitions for UG and PG students.
bullet The Association has instituted two trophies for the overall championships for UG and PG students.
bullet Faculty involved extensively preparing students for participating successfully in co-curricular activities.
bullet The Department conducted a seminar on Pros & Cons of Autonomy in 2003.
bullet A national seminar on globalization of Ayurvedic & Herbal products: Challenges & strategies was
organized by the department in 2005. It was supported by PRDSF, Department of Science
& technology.
bullet Another UGC sponsored national seminar titled “the Role of Teacher in the
Changing Scenario of higher education” was organized on 10th March 2005.

bulletAbout Faculty

Principal Dr. Suhas Pednekar has been selected as Professor of Chemistry. He attended a
three week course on Micro scale Techniques in Chemistry in United States. He was also
invited for 4 months as a visiting scientist at Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey.
Green Chemistry is his area of interest. He has attended and presented papers at four
international conferences in the U.S.A.


Mrs. K. Raghuraman, HOD, a perfectionist by nature, is known for her administrative
excellence. She is in charge of College Admissions and Examinations.

Mrs. Jyotsna Deshpande is Chairperson of the Vigilance Committee.

Dr. Shushama Sathe was Chairperson of the Marathi Vadsabha for several years.

Dr. P.A. Sathe, Vice Principal, is actively involved in research and was Chairperson of
Science Association. As a member of the Library Committee, he takes keen interest in the
development of the college library. He is Member of Board of Studies, University of Mumbai.

Dr. Vikas Vaidya is a research guide at M.Sc. and Ph.D. level.

Dr. Mrs. Vidya Dighe attended Complementary & National Healthcare Expo at London in October 2004.

Dr. Mrs. Jyoti Patwardhan is actively involved in 'Paryawaran Shala' - NGO for creating awareness about Environment   amongst school children and society.

Dr. Manish Hate is an NSS Programme Officer.

Dr. Kiran Mangaonkar, M.Sc., Ph.D. Resigned and joined in June’06 as Principal,
Mithibhi College)

Principal Dr. R. T. Sane (Professor) retired in June 2005. The college scaled new heights
in almost every field during his tenure. (14 years)
