College Profile

The Ramnarain Ruia College of Arts & Science was established in June 1937; it was the first college in Mumbai to be started by the Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali, Pune. This College is affiliated to University of Mumbai and conducts courses at Undergraduate and Graduate (Postgraduate) level.

Today, Ruia College enjoys the reputation of being one of the finest institutions of higher learning in the country. Its outstanding performance in the field of curricular and co-curricular activities has very considerably enhanced its prestige and brought it substantial financial assistance from the University Grants Commission, the C S I R and many other equally reputed bodies.

Ruia alumni comprise a galaxy of eminent individuals from different walks of life. To cite a few names: Professor Ram Joshi, Dr. K. Kasturirangan, Mr. Dilip Chitre, Justice V. P. Tipnis, Justice Hemant Gokhale, Dr. Prafulla Desai, Dr. K. Ramamoorthy, Dr. Ajit Phadke, Mr. P. K. Dhamdhere, Mr. Nandu Natekar, Mr. Ajit Wadekar, Ms. Shruti Sadolikar, Ms. Ashwini Bhide, Ms. Swati Chitnis, Dr. Snehalata Deshmukh, Mr. Sandeep Patil, Mr. R. H. Mendonca, Mr. P.           Since 1937, this home of learning has offered its students excellent infrastructural facilities along with competent and dedicated faculty who strives for all round development of every student.

         In the context of the changing global scenario, the institute has gone all out to provide its students with state of the art facilities as well as to design innovative courses to meet the demands of the time.

         Alongside, the college regularly organizes innumerable extra-curricular activities to bring out the hidden talent of the students in the form of artistic self expression.

          Above all, the college gladly carries out its social responsibility by serving the physically challenged and socio-economically deprived.
